Gaung Suara RI dalam Konf. Islam Internasional
Nijmegen - Konferensi Internasional Kedua mengenai Islam moderat yang bertajuk "Seeking The Middle Path (Al Wasatiyya): Articulations of Moderate Islam" telah diselenggarakan pada 19 Juni 2019 di Universitas Radboud, Nijmegen, Belanda.
Pertemuan Internasional tentang Islam moderat tersebut --yang merupakan acara dua tahunan-- digagas oleh PCINU Belanda bekerja sama dengan Universitas Radboud, Nijmegen, Belanda.
Perhelatan itu diselenggarakan untuk mempromosikan dan lebih memahami konsep dari al-wasatiyya yang kerap diterjemahkan sebagai "Islam pertengahan" atau "jalan tengah," demikian seperti dikutip dari rilis KBRI Den Haag, yang dimuat Liputan6.com pada Minggu (23/6/2019).
Menteri Agama Republik Indonesia, Drs. H. Lukman H. Saifuddin yang hadir sebagai pembicara utama menekankan bahwa prinsip beragama jalan tengah (middle way) sudah bukan hanya merupakan harapan suatu negara atau sekelompok masyarakat saja, melainkan merupakan kebutuhan bersama segenap bangsa. Hal ini demi menciptakan tatanan dunia yang damai, rukun, anti kekerasan, dan saling menghargai perbedaan serta saling mengapresiasi keragaman.
Sementara itu, Duta Besar RI untuk Kerajaan Belanda, I Gusti Agung Wesaka Puja menyampaikan bahwa al Wasatiyya Islam (jalan tengah) atau Islam moderat merupakan cara yang sesuai bagi semua agama untuk bersikap. Dalam praktiknya Indonesia sudah menjalankan nilai-nilai dari Al Wasatiyya tersebut sejak lama.
Konferensi tahun ini dihadiri sekitar 300 orang dan melibatkan para akademisi, peneliti dan budayawan dari berbagai latar belakang yang beragam baik dari Indonesia, maupun Belanda.
Turut hadir pula dalam konferensi antara lain, KH Yahya Cholil Staquf, Katib Am NU/Anggota Wantimpres dan Prof. Syafiq Mughni, Utusan Khusus Presiden untuk Dialog dan Kerjasama Antaragama dan Peradaban (UKP-DKAAP).
Selanjutnya, masih dalam rangkaian acara konferensi, pada tanggal 20 Juni 2019, Konsorsium Belanda-Indonesia untuk hubungan Muslim-Kristen bekerja sama dengan Kedutaan Besar Republik Indonesia untuk Kerajaan Belanda menyelenggarakan kegiatan dialog antar agama (interfaith dialogue) yang bertajuk "Promoting 'Costly' tolerance: Challenges for states and religious communities."
